I recently purchased a Classic Rylee table and accessories from Associated Billiards. The entire process from the table selection and pricing to delivery and set-up was exceptional! Bruce was knowledgeable and informative on the Legacy brand table and the options available. Very helpful; many suggestions; and absolutely no pressure.

Jim and Tom were very courteous and accommodating when they delivered and set-up the table. Provided table care instructions; took their time to ensure a good job; cleaned up everything; and even a ‘test’ game to ensure the table was level!

Overall an excellent business and people to deal with from start to finish including price and product quality. Top notch service and highly recommended! Totally satisfied with the table and service! – Sean L.

Shuffleboard Table Essentials

1. How to play the game of shuffleboard

In this section, we’ll explain the rules of playing a 2-player shuffleboard game.

The Object of the Game:

  • The object of the game is to be the first player to reach 15 points.
  • Each player will try to earn points by sliding their puck furthest down the board without going off into the gutter/alley.
  • Pucks must also cross the second foul line furthest from the starting position and a player may not cross their hand past the first foul line closest to the starting line when taking a shot. If either of these fouls occurs, the puck is removed from the board and the player may not try their shot again.

Getting Started:

1. Each person takes a set of 4 pucks

2. Use a coin toss to decide who starts. The starting player will shoot their puck first.

3. Players alternate shots each round

4. Players take turns shooting their pucks one at a time. Players may aim for the highest score zone or try to knock their opponent’s pucks off the board.

5. After each round, alternate sides of your shuffleboard to begin a new round from the other side of the board.

Play:

1. After each player has a chance to shoot each of their 4 pucks, scoring for the round begins. The player who has a puck furthest in the highest scoring zone is the winner of the round and then is entitled to score points.

2. The winner will count points only for the pucks that are ahead of the opponent’s pucks. If pucks are tied in their position, the winner doesn’t count the points for those pucks. If a puck is on a line, the player counts the points of the lesser zone.

Bonus: If a puck is hanging off the far end of the board, the winning player gets 4 points instead of 3! Any pucks in the alley/gutter do not count toward points.

3. The winning player adds up their score and is the first to begin the next round. If no one wins in a round, the player who began the last round will begin the next round, too.

4. The first person to reach 15 points wins. If the total score is close, the player must win by 2 points.

For further reference, watch the video below or check out this guide from Shuffleboard.net.

2. Details About Different Shuffleboard Table Sizes, Regulations and Functions

While changes have been made over the years in shuffleboard table sizes, the standard size of a shuffleboard table that you might see in people’s homes is anywhere between 8 to 14 feet long. Smaller boards make play easier. If you are training for a tournament, however, you will need a larger table. The official tournament-sized shuffleboard is 22 feet long by 20 inches wide. Professionals recommend that the wood is 2 – 3 inches thick as a thicker board will last longer.

Keep in mind that you will need some space around your shuffleboard table to make playing comfortable. A space of 3 feet is recommended at each end of the table so players have room to move when sliding their pucks. So, keep in mind your room’s measurements before ordering.

Also, try to keep your shuffleboard table in a dry place without a lot of sunlight. Moisture can cause warping and sunlight can cause wear.

The 12-foot outdoor Emory shuffleboard above is made of acacia wood and can be placed outdoors or indoors.

3. Details about  purchasing a shuffleboard table

When purchasing a shuffleboard table, there are a few things you should remember:

  • If you plan on keeping your shuffleboard inside, know the measurements of the room where you will use your shuffleboard table so that you get a table that’s the right size for your room.
  • If you plan on keeping your shuffleboard outdoors, choose a board made from the right kind of wood so that it can withstand the weather.
  • Consider how you’re going to maintain your shuffleboard. Remember that shuffleboard wax must be used on your board before you slide pucks.

  • When you purchase a legacy shuffleboard from Associated Billiards you will get the following items:

  • Climate adjusters
  • Leg levellers
  • 8 coloured pucks
  • Abacus scorer
  • Table brush
  • Shuffleboard wax
  •
The team can also provide delivery and installation. Associated Billiards serves and delivers within the following areas: Guelph, Cambridge, Brantford, Kitchener, Waterloo, Fergus, Elora, Orangeville and Erin.

    poiker table

You need to decide how much you can spend on the poker table

The first step to purchasing a poker table is to establish how much money you would like to spend on your table. There is a wide range of prices for poker tables that range anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500 or more for higher quality tables.

As with most pieces of furniture, spending a bit more to get a table that is going to last makes more sense than buying an inferior quality one that you may need to replace in a few years. A higher quality table will also look better and will give you a more sturdy, enjoyable playing surface.

Pool Table Slate: Pros & Cons

Pool Table Slate: Pros & Cons

Pool table slate is an important component in your pool table construction. Continue reading below to learn more about:

    1. Different Types of Pool Tables
    2. Benefits of Using Pool Table Slate
    3. What is Slate?
    4. Types of Slate Used for Pool Tables
    5. 1-Slate vs 3-Slate Tables

If you are looking to purchase a high-quality pool table made with slate, contact us.

    1. Different Types of Pool Tables

    pool table slate

Pool table slate will give you a smooth, incredibly flat playing surface

A pool table’s playing surface can be made from a number of different materials including:

    *Wood (usually fiberboard or plywood)
    *Plastic
    *Slate

Although wood and plastic pool tables are much less expensive than their slate counterpart and lighter in weight, they don’t have the same durability. They are not usually constructed so that you can recloth them, so once the felt wears out, you can no longer us them.

In addition, neither wood nor plastic pool tables will give you the precise flat surface that you can achieve with a slate pool table.

    2. Benefits of Using Pool Table Slate

Pool table slate is incredibly durable and easy to locate

Slate pool tables have a number of great benefits that you can’t get with a wood or plastic pool table.

    Better Playing Surface:

John Thurston constructed the very first slate pool table in 1826. He found that wooden pool tables were frustrating to play on, because over time, the wooden playing surface would warp. Looking for a solution to this problem, he tried to find a better type of material that would meet the following criteria:

    *Inexpensive to purchase
    *Easy to locate
*Gives you a smooth playing surface
*Would not warp if exposed to moisture or absorption

He discovered that slate perfectly matched all of these requirements. By about 1835, pool table slate had become popular material to use for constructing a pool table. It is still the number one choice for constructing superior tables.

    Lifetime Warranty:

Slate is such an incredibly durable material and will last many years, top manufacturers of slate tables will give you a lifetime warranty on your slate pool table.

    Quality Construction:

High-quality pool tables will have a piece of slate that is larger than your playing surface. The slate will extend underneath the rails of your table giving it added resilience.

In addition, the slate will be enclosed in the wooden frame so that the cloth can be stapled or tacked right to the wooden frame instead of simply being stuck to the underside of the piece of slate.

    3. What is Slate?

    pool table slate

Slate is a type of rock that can be split into large, thin, level slabs

Slate is a metamorphic rock of sedimentary origin. It is made from fine-grained sediments like mud or sometimes volcanic ash laid down in layers over millions of years.

It is mostly composed of quartz, sericite, and minerals of the chlorite group. Slate can be split into large, thin, slabs that are perfectly level, making it a great choice for pool tables.

The following video will give you more information on pool table slate.

Pool tables such as those made by Legacy Billiards come with a one-inch slate

Pool table slate comes in different thicknesses from a half-inch up to two inches. One-inch is considered the standard thickness for pool tables. Most professionals will play on a one-inch slate table.

    4. Type of Slate Used for Pool Tables

Both Italian and Brazilian slate are used for pool tables

One of the main reasons that slate was chosen as a great material for constructing pool tables is that is it available all around the world. Spain, China, European Union, Brazil, and India are the top 5 slate exporters in the world. Italy is also a huge exporter of slate, coming in at eleventh.

    Italian Pool Table Slate:

Most pool enthusiasts would agree that the best slate for making a pool table comes from the Ligurian region of Italy. The slate from this location is renowned for its high quality. This slate will be marked “OIS” which stands for original Italian slate.

Italian slate is usually softer than slate from other regions in the world. This makes it easier to work with and a popular choice for making billiard tables.

    Brazilian Pool Table Slate:

In recent years, slate from Brazil has been growing in popularity because of its great durability. In fact, it is so strong that it is virtually impossible to bend or break meaning it will stand up to heavy use for many years to come. In addition, the mineral composition of Brazilian slate gives it an incredibly flat surface.

Regardless of whether you choose a table made with Italian or Brazilian slate, you will be getting a table that will last for generations as long as you properly maintain it.

    5. 1-Slate vs 3-Slate Tables

3-slate pool tables are easier to move

One of the downsides of using pool table slate to construct your table is the weight. The slate for a typical pool table will weigh between 180 and 270 kg (400 to 600 lbs). This makes it very difficult and expensive to both ship and move.

    1-Slate vs 3-Slate Tables:

Because of the sheer size and weight of a 1-slate pool table, manufacturers started making 3-slate tables. With a 3-slate table, the slate starts out as one piece and is divided into 3 pieces that will match perfectly together.  This design has several advantages including:

*Less risk of breakage during a move or shipping
*Easier to move, ship, and set up
*Less expensive to ship and move
*Easier to manuever down narrow hallways, through narrow doorways, and around corners

The disadvantage of a 3-slate table is that it is more difficult to assemble. You need to make sure that the three pieces line up perfectly so that your table is completely flat. A professional installer will be able to do this for you, so you don’t have to worry.

What Dart Board Measurements to Use When Hanging

What Dart Board Measurements to Use When Hanging

If you are wondering what dart board measurements you should use when hanging up your dart board, here’s help. Click on each section to learn more.

    1. Where to Hang Your Dart Board – Location, Floor Surface, Lighting

    2. Official Dart Board Measurements
    3. Tips for Mounting Your Dart Board
    4. How to Mark Your Throwing Line

If you are looking for a high-quality dart board for your game room, contact us.

    Dart Board Measurements

    1. Where to Hang Your Dart Board – Location, Floor Surface, Lighting

Discover the proper dart board measurements to use

    Location:

Make sure you choose a location where there is plenty of room so that all players and others in the room to stand and stay clear of the throwing path. You should select a location that is away from any breakable object like televisions, computers, glassware, or windows.

You should also locate your dart board away from any stairways or doors where someone might unknowingly enter and accidentally walk into the path of the darts.

    Flooring:

Putting down a protective covering on your flooring is a good idea for a couple of reasons.

    1. Protect your floor:

If you have hardwood or other types of flooring that could get damaged by your dart tips, then puttting down a protective covering will keep this from happening.

    2. Protect your dart tips:

If you have a concrete or other  hard surface flooring, your dart tips could get damaged if they fall on it.

    Type of Covering:

Choose a thick mat that will be able to cushion your steel dart tips. A rubber or vinyl dart mat is your best option. If your room is carpeted, then you may not need to add a covering at all.

    Dart Mats:

A dart mat is a mat made specifically for playing darts. It will not only protect your flooring and your darts, but it will also be made to fit into your throwing area and will have pre-printed toes lines for both soft and steel tipped dart games.

An additional advantage to investing in a dart mat is that you don’t have to physically mark lines on your flooring to indicate your dart board measurements for throwing. You can simply roll out your mat when you want to play and roll it back up and store it away when you are finished your game.

    Lighting:

Install proper lighting so you can better see your dart board – Track Lighting Image: Home Depot

It is a good idea to have proper lighting for your dart board especially if your room is dark. You can simply mount a spotlight above you dartboard or install track lighting on the ceiling so you can direct the lights for the best effect.

If you use three lights on a track you can angle them in such a way as they overlap and criss cross to eliminate any shadows on the board. Make sure you install your lights in a location that will give plenty of clearance for your dart throwing arc.

    2. Official Dart Board Measurements

Use official dart board measurements when hanging your board

The following dart board measurements are the official set-up for the standard dart board using steel tip darts. The dartboard set-up is used by the WDF (World Darts Federation), BDO (British Darts Organization), PDC (Professional Darts Council) and other official bodies.

    Height:

Your dartboard should be hung 1.73m (5’8″) from the floor to the center of your board also called the bulls eye. It is a good idea to hang up your dartboard before measuring out your throwing line.

Note: The height of the board for wheelchair uses should be 137cm.

    Throwing Line Distance:

Your throwing line needs to be 2.37m (7’9 1/4″) away from the face of your dartboard. You need to measure from the face of your dartboard and not from the wall itself. Most dart boards are about 1 and a half inches thick, but you will also need to account for the thickness of your backing surface if you have one.

If your dart board is already in place, you can simply attach a  plumb line (string) from the centre of the bulls eye to the floor. You can then measure your throwing line distance from this string.

    Diagonal Distance:

If you prefer, you can figure out where your throwing line should be by taking a diagonal measurement. Have a friend hold a tape measure at the center of the double bulls eye. You can then measure out 2.93m (9’7 1/2″) in a diagonal to the floor.

Note: the BDO World Championship  ladies throwing distance is the same as the men’s, however, many leagues may have different throwing leagues for ladies.

    Soft-tip Dart Board:

If you are using a soft-tip dart board, the measurements are slightly different and are as follows:

    Height: 1.73m (5’8″)

    Throwing Line Distance: 2.99m (9’9 3/4″)

    Diagonal Distance: 2.44m (8’0″)

    3. Tips for Mounting Your Dart Board

Dart board cabinets are a great and decorative backing for mounting your board

There are several ways you can mount your darts board. Here are some helpful tips.

    Tip #1:

Use a backing surface instead of mounting your board directly on your wall.

    Tip #2:

If you do mount your board directly on your wall, make sure you are mounting it into wood or concrete. Trying to mount it on drywall with heavy duty anchors is not recommended.

Over time the weight of the board combined with the pulling out of the darts will make this type of mounting unstable.

    Tip #3:

Purchasing a dart board that comes in a cabinet is a great idea. It will give you a sturdy backing surface that you can mount to the wall and it can add extra decorative appeal to your room.

    Tip #4:

If you choose to make your own backing for your dart board, you can use cork, plywood, or carpeting that you cover with a dark piece of fabric. You backing surface should be at least 3 square feet in size to accommodate both your board and any wayward darts.

    4. How to Mark Your Throwing Line

Players need to stand behind the throwing line when they throw their darts

The throwing line in darts is also called the Oche. You pronounce it like you would the word hockey with the “h” sound. Players need to stand behind this line when they throw their darts. If you aren’t using a dart mat, you can mark this line with a wide piece of tape such as duct tape.

The tape needs to be durable enough to stand up to constant stepping on it and it needs to be able to stick to the type of flooring you have. The front edge of this tape needs to be placed where you marked out your throwing line distance from above.

    1. How to Set Up 8 Ball Pool

8 ball pool rules are easy to learn. Here’s a breakdown of how to play.

    Number of players: Two

    Object of 8 ball pool:

The object of 8 ball pool is to be the first player to “legally” sink the 8-ball. However, you need to first pocket all of your corresponding numbered balls before you can attempt to sink the 8-ball.

You play 8 ball pool with 15 numbered balls (including the black 8-ball) and one white cue ball. The coloured balls numbered from 1 to 7 are solid in colour and are therefore called “solids.” The balls numbered 9 to 15 have a stripe around the middle and are called “stripes.” One player will be trying to sink the “solids” and the other player will be trying to sink the “stripes.”

    Cue Ball Placement:

Place your cue ball on the head spot on your table. Place your pool rack with the 15 balls arranged inside at the opposite end of your table, laterally centered along the foot string in the foot spot.

How to arrange the balls in the rack:

Place the number 1 ball at the top of your triangle rack. The 8-ball needs to be in the center of the rack (i.e. in the third row after the 1-ball and in the center).

    8 ball pool rules

The 8-ball needs to be in the center of your rack

Place a solid coloured ball in one of the bottom corners of the rack and a striped ball in the other bottom corner. Remove the rack. The above image has the correct set-up except that one of the bottom corner balls needs to be a stripe instead of a solid.

    2. 8 Ball Pool Rules

    The break:

The first player lines up their cue in the area behind the head string to make the first shot. You need to make a legal break shot. This means that you have to either pocket a ball or drive at least four of the object balls to the rail. If you don’t make a legal break, then it is a foul.

When there is a foul on the break:

The incoming player can either leave the table as it is and take their shot or set up the table again and redo the opening break.

When a player scratches on a legal break:

If the cue ball goes in on a legal break then 3 things happen:

    1. 1. All of the pocketed balls stay pocketed.

    2. 2. The shot is considered a foul, so it is the other player’s turn.

    3. 3. The table is open. This means that the first player to sink a ball gets to choose whether they will be going for the “stripes” or the “solids.”

While the table is open, you can hit any solid or strip, or the 8-ball first in the process of pocketing your called stripe or solid. However, if you do hit the 8-ball first then not stripe or solid is scored in your favour. You lose your turn and any balls pocketed remain pocketed. The next player is still playing on an open table.

When the 8-ball is pocketed on the break:

If this occurs, then the player breaking can ask for a re-rack or they can have the 8-ball spotted and then they continue shooting.

Here are two different methods for breaking an 8-ball rack

The above video demostrates two different ways to make a break that follows 8 ball pool rules.

When the player scratches while pocketing the 8-ball:

If this occurs, then the player breaking can ask for a re-rack or they can have the 8-ball spotted and then continue shooting. If you pocket the 8-ball any time after the break, you automatically lose the game.

When a player jumps an object ball off the table on the break shot:

If this occurs, the other player can either:

    1. 1. Accept the table position and take the next shot to continue the game or
    2. 2. Place the cue ball behind the head string and either shoot or break again.
    3.

    Choice of Stripes or Solids:

The table always stays open right after a break shot. The choice of stripes or solids only happens when a player is able to legally pocket a called object ball after the break shot takes place.

If a player has legally pocketed one or more of the object balls on the break, they may continue to make another shot. Any balls pocketed on a foul stay pocketed regardless of whose ball they are.

    Legal shots:

Once the groups are chosen, then you must always hit a ball from your chosen group first. For example, if you are stripes, then you must always hit a stripe first. In addition, you have to either pocket one of your numbered balls or you have to make the cue ball or any numbered ball come in contact with the rail. If you fail to do either of these, then it is considered a foul.

    Foul Penalty:

When a foul occurs, your opponent gets to place the cue ball anywhere on the table. It only has to be behind the headstring if the foul happens on a break.

    3. Glossary of 8 Ball Pool Terms

    practice pool

8 ball pool rules include a number of terms you will need to learn

Here is a list of the most common 8 ball pool terms.

    Head spot:

This is the small dot or triangle located in the lateral center of your table. It is about 1/4 of the way down the length of the table.

    Head string:

The line that runs through the head spot on your table. It can be drawn on the felt or imaginary.

    Foot spot:

The spot on the pool table where the apex ball of your rack is centered above. It is usually marked with a paper spot or a sticker. It is two diamonds out from the foot rail and is perfectly centered. This is where you rack you balls.

    Rail:

The side bank of the pool tabletop. The area that the balls bounce off of.

    Scratch:

A scratch happens when you accidentally knock the cue ball into one of the pockets. If this happens then you must remove one of the balls that you have already sunk and place it back on the table in the center. The other player can then take a shot from wherever they want to on the table.

    Spotting balls:

This means to return a ball to the table by putting it on the long string as close as possible to the foot spot and between the foot spot and the foot rail. You need to do this without moving or interfering with another ball on the table.

    Object balls:

All of the striped or solid balls that are numbered from 1 to 15. These include all of the balls on the table except the cue balls. You are trying to knock the object balls into the pockets.

    Called shot:

This means to indicate which ball and pocket you are shooting for. You don’t need to call obvious shots. If your opponent is not sure about which shot you are calling, they have the right to ask before you make your shot.

    Pocket:

Get one or more of the objects balls into on of the six baskets along the rim of the pool table.

    Cue ball:

The white ball that you hit with your cue. This ball in turn is knocked into the object balls to make your shot.

    Pool Cue Racks

There are many different styles of pool cue racks to choose from. Depending on the amount of space you have, the number of cues you want to store, and the place where you want to keep your rack, here are a few great options.

    Floor racks:

Floor pool cue racks are designed to stand up by themselves. The beauty of this type of design is that you can easily move it around from place to place if you don’t like where it is situated. They usually work best up against a wall.

You can choose from a number of different styles that store your balls, chalk, and ball racks. Some are also designed with handy rings to hold your drink glasses while you are playing. It is a good idea to choose one that matches the style and colour of your  pool table.

    Wall Racks:

Wall pool cue racks are designed to hand on the wall of your game room. They usually are designed to hug your wall and not stick out too far, taking up less space than traditional floor racks. They can dress up an empty wall while being the perfect spot to hold all your billiard supplies from cues and balls, to chalk and table brushes.

    Corner Racks:

If space is limited, but you like the idea of a floor rack, then why not choose a corner style one. Corner pool cue racks neatly fit into any unused corner of your room. When selecting a pool cue rack make sure you get one that is large enough to hold the number of cues and other accessories that you will need and that matches your table.

    Perfect Drawer

The Perfect Drawer from Legacy Billiards is a great space-saving accessory

One of the most innovative billiard supplies is an under-the-table storage drawer. The Perfect Drawer from Legacy Billiards is the first and only attachable drawer made for storing all your billiard accessories safely under your billiard table.

It comes in a variety of sizes that will fit virtually any seven, eight, or nine-foot table. It’s very easy to install and you don’t need any special tools to do it. It will hold your billiard balls, racks, brushes, chalk, and more.

Ping Pong and Dining Table Tops

    dining table top

A dining table top will make your billiard table multipurpose

To make the most of your billiard table investment, you can purchase one that has an optional ping pong or dining room table top. This is a great idea if you want to not only make your table mult-purpose, but also your room. A ping pong table top gives you a opportunity to use your pool table for another popular game, perfect for the whole family.

Billiard tables such as the Baylor from Legacy Billiards have a gorgeous dining table option that converts your table into a luxury entertaining space.

    Storage Benches

A storage bench is another great billiard accessory. You not only can use the bench for discreetly storing your billiard supplies, but it can also double as seating for player waiting for their turn.

The storage bench is can also be used if you have a dining table top for your pool table as seating around your table.

    Stools and Tables

Stools and tables are great addition to any game room. They will give you extra seating for your guests and a place where you can enjoy refreshments before, during and after your games.

You can even purchase a flip table that lets you play other games on one side and then you flip to the other side when it is time to eat.

    Billiard Services

Moving Your Billiard Table – Assembly & Disassembly

Billiard tables are incredibly heavy, especially high quality ones made from hardwood and slate, and difficult to move. Even though it is expensive to hire a professional to move your pool table, it is well worth the investment. Not only are pool tables heavy, but they are complicated structures.

It is better to have professionals dismantle your table and then re-assemble it for you than to try and move it in one piece. If you try to move it in one piece, you increase your risk of damaging it.

    Replacing Pool Table Cloth

    practice pool

Replace your cloth if it is negatively affecting your game

How often you need to replace the cloth on your pool table will depend on how often you play. For example, if you play more than four times a week, then you will probably need to replace the cloth about every two to five years. If you notice any of the following, then it is time to get your table re-clothed:

*Your cloth is loose or peeling up
    *You notice bunching in places
*You have holes, rips or tears in the cloth
*You have bumps on the cloth

In addition, if you start to notice that your play is being affected, then it may be time to replace the cloth. For example, if your balls are not rolling as easily as they usually do or if they are going in different direction from what you intended.

You also may want to change the the cloth on your table if you are redecorating and the old felt colour no longer matches your new decor.

    Re-Cushioning Pool Table Bumpers

Standard billiard table bumpers will need to be replaced about every 12 to 15 years. If you purchase a higher quality table with better bumpers, they could last 25 to 50 years. If your table is exposed to extreme moisture or temperature levels, or if it is misued, then your bumpers may wear out faster.

You will know that it is time for new bumpers if you start to hear the sound of impact of your ball hitting the rail of your table instead of bouncing off the cushion. A high-quality pool table can last a lifetime, but you may need to get its bumpers replaced. This is a billiard service that you can get done for you for a reasonable rate.

Pool Table: The Perfect Addition to Your Den or Games Room

Pool Table: The Perfect Addition to Your Den or Games Room

If you are thinking about investing in a  pool table for your den or games room, here is some important information to consider. Click on each section to learn more.

    1. Benefits of buying a pool table

    2. How to incorporate your pool table in your room
    3. Should you buy a new or used pool table?
    4. Does quality really matter?

If you are looking for a high-quality, finely crafted pool table at a wholesale price, contact us.

    1. Benefits of buying a pool table

    pool table
A pool table can be the perfect addition to your den or games room

There are many great benefits to putting a pool table in your den or games room. Here are just a few.

    Family heirloom:

If you purchase a quality-made, hardwood, slate pool table, it will last for many years to come. That way you can pass it down to the next generation for them to enjoy.

    Classic unplugged source of fun:

Our society has become so wrapped up in electronic devices for amusement, that having an “unplugged” game is not only a refreshing change of pace, but it can be better for you health-wise. Too much screen time can cause many problems in both adults and children including:

    * Obesity

    * Trouble sleeping
    * Depression
    * Anxiety
    * Chronic pain in your neck and back

Investing in a pool table can be a great alternative to television, video games, and other electronic forms of entertainment.

    Practice whenever you want:

    practice pool
Enjoy playing pool whenever you want to

If you love to play pool, then having a table of your own means that you can practice and play whenever you want. You don’t have to go to a pool hall, arcade, or bar in order to enjoy a game.

    Helps improve life skills:

The game of pool can help you improve and develop some great life skills including:

    * Hand-eye coordination: you can develop you skills and improve your dexterity
    * Healthy competition: learn the joys of competing with your friend over a game you love
    * Geometry and physics: what angles to shoot and at what velocity
    * Critical thinking and intuition: the more you play, the more you will improve

These are all great life skills to teach your children and they will have fun learning them.

    2. How to incorporate your pool table in your room

Choose a table that fits the size and style of your room

Here are some tips to help you incorporate your pool table into your den or games room.

    Use your space wisely:

A pool table is a wonderful addition to a den or games room, however, they will take up a large amount of space. You not only need to accommodate the size of the table, but you do need to have enough free space around your table to allow for your shots without having your cues hit a wall or other objects.

One space-saving idea is to purchase a table tennis conversion top. That way your pool table can be easily converted for a game of ping pong. It comes in two pieces with a padded backing that will not damage your pool table.

Another way to use your space wisely is by purchasing a drawer that attaches to the underside of your pool table to store all your pool accessories. When you are not using it, you simply tuck the drawer out of your way and out of sight.

Legacy Billiards has the first and only drawer of this kind and it will fit almost any brand of 7′, 8′, or 9′ pool table. It is called the Perfect Drawer and it is well worth the investment.

The Perfect Drawer is a great space-saving feature

Choose the pool table to fit your room:

If space is limited, then you can get a smaller, 7 foot table instead of an 8 or 9 foot one. A smaller table doesn’t change the game of pool. Every pool table, no matter what size it is, is designed with the width of its playfield exactly half the size of its length.

As a result your angles and shots will be the same no matter what size of table you purchase. The only adjustment you will need to make will be in the firmness of your stroke and the degree of error

Choose a table that matches your style:

There are many different styles of pool tables including:

    Traditional
    Contemporary
    Industrial
    Rustic
    Classic

Select a table that reflects the style of your den or games room.

Design your room around your pool table:

A pool table is not only a great source of entertainment, but it can also be a exquisite piece of furniture. With that in mind, consider placing your table in the centre of your room so that it becomes the focal point.

    Accessorize:

    Emory_Bar_Cart
    Sterling bar

Don't forget to include a bar cart in your games room

Add a touch of class with functionality to your games room with a beautiful bar. Bars come in a wide variety of styles and sizes from smaller moveable carts to full-sized versions with storage drawers and lockable cabinets.

You can also put up a dart board. It will only take up a small amount of wall space, but it will give you another great game to play with your friends and family. Make sure to select one with a cabinet that matches the style of your pool table.

A game table is also a great addition to your den. If you purchase a 2 in 1 flip table like the Sterling model from Legacy Billiards, you use it for both dining and games. Simply flip the inner circle of the table by moving two easy slide locks.

    3. Should you buy a new or used pool table?

It makes more sense to buy a new pool table

Pool tables tend to hold their value, especially well-made ones. For this reason, you will probably find that it makes sense to buy a new one as many used tables will cost almost as much as a new table.

If you buy your table new, you should also get a guarantee with it. That’s something that you won’t get with a used table.

In addition, pool tables can often get damaged when they are moved.

If it is not done properly, you may find that you won’t have an even playing surface or the move could cause structural damage. The small amount that you might save by buying used will often need to be spent in repairing any damage.

    4. Does quality really matter?

Check that the table you are buying has a slate playing surface

When it comes to pool tables, there can be a big difference in quality. Make sure that you are purchasing a table that has a slate playing surface. Slate will not warp or deteriorate over time like a plywood surface can. A slate bed will also ensure that your balls roll true.

You also want to get a table that has the slate already attached to the frame by the manufacturer. This way the manufacturer will ensure that the playing surface is level and solid and that there are no structural issues with the table itself.

In addition, you should purchase a pool table that has a solid hardwood cabinet and legs. Hardwood will last much longer and will be more durable than other materials such as plywood, soft woods, or plastic.

    What our customers are saying...

“I recently purchased a Classic Rylee table and accessories from Associated Billiards.

Totally satisfied with the table and service!”

Pool Table Sales – What You Need To Know

Pool Table Sales: What You Need To Know

A company that specializes in pool table sales, can be a great source of information when you are trying to choose the right table for your needs. Not every pool table is created the same.

What materials is it made of?
    How Was The Table Constructed?
What is the right size of pool table?
    What design is the best?
    Is the manufacturer environmentally conscious?

If you are looking for a company with the best pool table sales, contact us. We offer wholesale pricing everyday!

    1. What materials is it made of?

Pool Table Sales: Ask what type of materials are used in the table

You should find out what type of materials the pool table you are considering buying is made from.

    Pool table beds:

All professional pool tables are made with slate beds. A slate bed will ensure that your balls will roll true. Slate will not deteriorate over time. If the cloth that is covering the slate begins to wear out, then you can have it replaced.

Some cheaper pool tables will have a wood (fibreboard and plywood) or sometimes even a plastic bed. These types of material will not last as long as a slate bed and more importantly you will not have a perfectly level surface on which to play. Wood beds may be less expensive to purchase and easier to move, however, if you are in a humid environment, they can swell or warp.

    Cabinet and legs:

A pool table that has a solid hardwood cabinet and legs will last much longer and will be more durable than those made from other materials such as plywood, soft woods, or plastic. Some tables, like those made by Legacy Billiards, are constructed from white mahoganyThis is a species of Havea wood.

Not only is it known for being one of the highest quality woods for making furniture, but it is also harvested and grown in a sustainable way. It doesn’t harm the rainforests and it is environmentally friendly. Legacy Billiard tables are available in Canada at Associated Billiards.

    2. How was the table constructed?

Another consideration when it comes to pool table sales, is to find out how the table is constructed. Tables like those made by Legacy Billiards have a patented solid hardwood Perfect Corner construction.

This means they have fewer bolts and screws. As a result, these types of tables are easier to assemble and the solid corners will provide you with a more durable construction that will last longer.

They also use high-torque, t-nut fasteners which help to make your table even stronger.

Investing a bit more in a pool table that is well made will mean that you will not only enjoy a better playing experience, but your table will stand the test of time.

    3. What is the right size of pool table?

Pool Table Sales: There are 3 main sizes of pool tables

Most pool tables come in 3 sizes: 7 foot, 8 foot, and 9 foot.

    7 Foot Tables:

Seven foot tables, also known as bar size, are becoming more and more popular because they take up less space. If you have a smaller room that can’t accommodate a larger sized table or if you want to use your room for more than just playing pool, then a seven foot table is a great option.

Seven foot tables are geometrically the same shape as an 8 or 9 foot table. This means that the width of the table’s playfield is exactly half the size of its length. As a result your angles and shots will be the same. The only adjustment will be in the firmness of stroke and the degree of error.

    8 Foot Tables:

Eight foot tables are also referred to as standard size. They are the most popular size of pool table sold for home use.

    9 Foot Tables:

This is a full-size table that is used in professional tournaments. It is the size that the game of billiards was invented on.

    4. What design is the best?

There are many different design options when it comes to pool table sales so you can get the perfect table to suit the style of your room.

    Classic:

If you are looking for pool table sales that are more traditional, then the Blazer by Legacy Billiards is a wonderful example.

It has a classic pool table design featuring highly detailed ball and claw legs paired with black pockets.

It’s an incredibly affordable-priced table that will look amazing in any room.

Both beginners and seasoned professionals will appreciate its time-honoured style and it comes in your choice of high-quality finishes including Black Onyx or Nutmeg.

    Contemporary:

If you prefer a more contemporary style, then take a look at the Ella II. It is designed with curved post legs and an arched cabinet and side blinds.

The Ella II is made from solid hardwood and has a smooth, polished finish that comes in a variety of fine furniture-quality finishes including:

    *Black Onyx
    *Black Cherry
    *Nutmeg
    *Port

This beautiful table is available in 7′, 8′, or 9′ options to fit any space that you need.

    Rustic:

If you want a more rustic look for your pool table, then the Cumberland is a great option. The Cumberland has a gorgeous rustic finish and a unique X leg design that makes it perfect to double as a dining room table.

Simply purchase one of our beautiful dining tops and custom height seating and you have an amazing table that you can use for hours of gaming fun and where 8 or more people can dine.

A table that does double duty will not only give you the best value for your money but it will also help you make the most of your indoor space.

    Industrial:

The Cimarron has a more modern, almost industrial feel to it. It would look wonderful in any modern space, especially a loft, chalet, or finished basement.

It is made with metal components with true finger jointed cabinetry and heavily distressed solid raised grain ash wood.

It has a lovely grey wash finished that is called “Smoke” and a charming grey patina. If you prefer, you can also get it in a “Whiskey Barrel” finish that is a rich brown hue.

    5. Is the manufacturer environmentally conscious?

Pool Table Sales: Ask about their environmental strategies

Being environmentally conscious is also a big consideration in pool table sales in this day and age. Check to see if the manufacturer of the table you are considering is committed to quality and sustainability.

For example, Legacy Billiards, available at Associated Billiards has a comprehensive green initiative that includes healthy practices such as:

*They have state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities that are equipped to release NO harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

*All wood scraps and sawdust collected from their factory are recycled and reused to heat and power the facility itself.

*All oils and chemicals used in their finish stains are collected and reused to ensure that there is no waste generated in the finishing process.

*They package their products efficiently in order to have the smalles shipping carton in the industry that is made entirely of recycled material.

All of these practices are helping Legacy Billiards to reduce their carbon footprint.
